| Monhegan Island, Maine, has been an important destination for artists since the late 1800s. Henri, Bellows, Rockwell Kent, Ida Proper, Jamie Wyeth, and many others have lived and worked here, producing a rich and varied body of work of this small island. The Monhegan Art Journal Online is for art collectors, galleries and artists. It is about Monhegan Art as found in fine art, photographs, folk art, articles, books, magazines, , etc. The viewer is the critic. Any inclusion is not necessarily an endorsement. This is an experiment moving toward an electronic art salon and not a gallery. It would be most helpful if, when you contact someone as a result of this site, you would let them know your source so we can measure the effectiveness of this effort.
